This is a full text search engine for fly literature, in collaboration with Flybase www.flybase.org. Currently, it contains approximately 20,000 full text papers and 39,000 abstracts. We are still in the process of refining the corpus, the ontologies and the search engine.

The gene category should be used with caution. Many gene symbols are the same text strings as common words, which in some instances causes those common words to be flagged as gene symbols when they are not. We have used font information and a word-sense disambiguation algorithm to improve the situation. This algorithm is still being tested and fine-tuned. Stopwords (words such as a, for and or ) and numbers have not been marked up as genes, as they would return too many false positives.
